Once a QR code is on a flyer, menu, or product package, fixing a mistake means reprinting. This tester decodes the exact image file you plan to use and checks it against the things that most often break a printed code: an HTTP link instead of HTTPS, a shortened URL that depends on a third-party service, and content long enough to force a dense, hard-to-scan pattern.

Low contrast is the most common cause: light gray on white, or a logo placed over too much of the code, both confuse a camera. Error correction helps recover from a logo or minor damage, but only up to a point — the design studio shows a live scannability score so you can see the effect of a logo or color choice before you export anything.
Size relative to scan distance matters as much as the image itself. A code sized for a business card will not scan from across a room. If you are printing at a specific distance — a poster, a booth banner, a vehicle wrap — size it generously and test the final export here, not just a screenshot of the design.
Finally, content length affects density: a plain URL like a short website QR code stays simple, while a full vCard QR code with every field filled in produces a denser pattern that needs more physical size to stay readable.

A common rule of thumb is that the code should be at least one-tenth of the scan distance: a code meant to be scanned from 3 feet away should be roughly 3.6 inches across. Denser codes (more text, WiFi details, vCards) need extra size on top of that.
